It’s never too soon to make a will.

When you are gone you will want to know that those you love are provided for and taken care of.

The easiest way to ensure that your estate is dealt with as you wish is to make a will and it is never too soon to do so.

Every year thousands of people die without making a will, causing problems, arguments and stress for those left behind. Such problems can be avoided by making a will that conains your wishes and makes the correct financial provisions to take of your loved ones.

Why should I make a will ?

  • Everyone should make a will regardless of how much or how little property they have. A will allows you to decide who to leave specific items to, to leave a donation to your favourite charity or simply just to allow you peace of mind knowing that everything will be taken care of when you aren’t here to do it.
  • If you die without leaving a will, know as 'intestate', your property will be dealt with in accordance with the law and this may lead to all sorts of problems in particular with regards to the family home and who gets to keep it. If you are not married but cohabiting, your partner may not be able to keep on living in the family home.
  • If you make a will you can not only decide what will happen with your estate but who will act on your behalf as executors of your will to ensure that your wishes are complied with. This can be a family member, a friend or it can be a specialist solicitor who will be able to assist your heirs with the correct and proper division of your assets when you have gone.
  • In addition, careful and professional will-drafting can ensure that your children are looked after financially. You can state your preferences for your means of funeral and memorial and ensure that your potential inheritance tax liabilities are reduced allowing more money to take care of those you leave behind.
